Explore the hidden depths of the Lost World Caverns!

Otherwise known as “spelunking”, wild cave expeditions go deep into the Lost World Cavern, a place most people will never have a chance to see. Not for the faint-of-heart, the more-than-a-mile of distal passages beyond the commercial cave is challenging to negotiate and require strength and agility. You will emerge from the cave covered in dirt, and very tired, but will be rewarded by the experience of a lifetime.

Passage epithets such as “The Birth Canal” and “Fat Man’s Misery” should provide clues to the nature of some of the adventure in store in the wild area of the cave, though this part of the cave also contains chambers nearby as large as the main room and spectacular formations that rival those in the commercial cave. In the fall of 1967, the bones of a prehistoric cave bear, Arctotus pristinus, were discovered in this area.
